Our tea is grown in the Shizuoka prefecture by the Kinezuka family. Toshiaki Kinezuka is a tenth generation tea farmer who refused the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers after witnessing the effects these chemicals had on local fish populations in nearby rivers. Instead, he sticks to traditional, organic farming methods that nourish the Earth, passing this wisdom on to his children and grandchildren. Kinezuka-san states: “A good farmer knows that to produce good crops, one must first develop good soil. Thus, the taste of good organic tea is made half of tea leaves and half of the hearts of their farmers.” We are honored to work with tea leaves cultivated by the Kinezuka family.
