Our Guest Curator: Jihee Kim of Perilla LA

Jihee Kim is a true queen of vegetables, a master of fermentation and banchan, and the chef behind Perilla L.A. — the cult-favorite banchan shop that started as a pandemic pop-up and grew into one of the neighborhood's best-kept secrets. Raised in Busan, Korea where her family ran a small restaurant on the coast, Jihee grew up in a working kitchen surrounded by seafood and fresh ingredients. She came to the U.S. as a teenager, trained in the Bay Area, and cooked her way through kitchens that shaped how she thinks about seasonality and tradition before landing in Los Angeles to make the food she grew up on, her own way.

At Perilla, that means banchan without limits. Warm seasoned rice. Sweet pepper muchim. The best potato salad studded through with crunchy apple and cucumber. Perfect spirals of rolled omelet. Whatever the farmers' market gives in season, worked through traditional Korean technique and fermentation. No two weeks look the same.

Jihee has become one of our neighborhood favorites, and we're proud to have her as our guest curator this week. Her picks come from a kitchen built on freshness, instinct, and real respect for where food comes from.

Order by Wednesday 9 PM or until sold out for next Friday's delivery (LA only).

As we continue to build our farm network, we strive to collaborate with farms prioritizing growing practices focused on rehabilitation, conservation of native species, and transparency — Regenerative, Biodynamic, and beyond Organic principles that improve soil and water health and promote biodiversity. Each Farm Box purchase directly supports this network of farmers, earth-tenders, and producers. Flamingo Estate horticulturist Jeff Hutchison and Catherine Welch, of Windrose Farm, have teamed up to source the best ingredients from a diverse group of small, family-run farms to help nurture a network of thoughtful growers who help heal the planet with every harvest.

    Totally worth it!

Getting to the Farmer's Market was often a challenge and grocery store produce is just not the same, no matter how much you spend. My "Friday Surprise" is absolute perfection. We end up spending less than we would at the Farmer's Market, the produce is perfection, there is always a little paper bag with something special, I end up trying something I wouldn't have otherwise, and it's plenty to last a week for two people. In fact, I find myself adding more veggies to dishes than I would have otherwise, just to use them up.

The Curtis Stone box is LIT!!!

I’m a former chef who has been so lazy with cooking and I needed something to revive me. I think this box just did that! Thank you so much for my first box from you all!! And much more vibrant in person than in the video, I was salivating as soon as I opened it up.
