When burning your scented candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2 to 3 hours, until the top layer of the candle wax melts completely into liquid wax. If you’re curious as to how to fix candle tunneling, this will prevent the candle wax from tunneling around the candle wick. We recommend using a candle snuffer or dipper when putting out your candle to ensure ash or smoke does not contaminate your candle’s melted or unmelted wax. When burning the candle after the first burn, do not let it burn for over 3 hours at a time.
Ideally, we recommend using a wick trimmer to keep the candle wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times to prevent the scented candle from emitting smoke or the wick falling into the melted wax. This will stop the wax and fragrance from getting ruined. After each burn, make sure the candle wick is centered in the wax. This will ensure that the candle glass does not overheat, as the wick and flame should never touch the candle glass.
Make sure to never leave a lit candle unattended or let the candle burn for more than 4 hours at a time. A lit candle should also only be placed on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Keep the candle out of reach of children and pets. When approaching the end of the candle, leave ¼ inch of wax unburned and ensure you are not burning the candle for more than 3 hours. The glass can get overheated without the presence of wax and break.
