Our Guest Curator: Chef Evan Kleiman for KCRW

Evan Kleiman is the longtime host of Good Food on KCRW. The chef, cookbook author and former restaurateur has spent decades immersed in food culture. The show explores how food intersects with human life. It’s a kaleidoscope of voices and stories that reveal the interconnection of policy and politics with agriculture, ecology and the simply delicious dishes that sit on our plates. Evan has been called the fairy godmother of the LA food scene for her central role in bringing a community of food people together. For many, she is the Queen of Pie, presiding over the station's annual pie contest that attracts thousands of the best bakers and curious eaters in Southern California.

This Fourth of July, Flamingo Estate is proud to partner with KCRW in support of independent media, free culture, and the kind of community that makes Los Angeles worth celebrating. KCRW — NPR's flagship member station in Southern California, broadcasting at 89.9FM and worldwide via kcrw.com — has been 100% community funded for the past year, after Congress stripped federal funding from public media. Despite that, they have kept delivering local and national news, human-curated music, arts and culture coverage, and free events that bring this city together. The majority of their funding comes from people like you! To donate and keep independent media alive in Los Angeles, visit kcrw.com/give.

Order by Wednesday 9 PM or until sold out for Thursday, July 2nd delivery (LA only).

As we continue to build our farm network, we strive to collaborate with farms prioritizing growing practices focused on rehabilitation, conservation of native species, and transparency — Regenerative, Biodynamic, and beyond Organic principles that improve soil and water health and promote biodiversity. Each Farm Box purchase directly supports this network of farmers, earth-tenders, and producers. Flamingo Estate horticulturist Jeff Hutchison and Catherine Welch, of Windrose Farm, have teamed up to source the best ingredients from a diverse group of small, family-run farms to help nurture a network of thoughtful growers who help heal the planet with every harvest.

    Box of heaven

Absolutely love my farm box .

Its arrival sparks such joy that I find myself feeling inspired and creative in the kitchen. Haven’t felt that way since the kids moved out. But this is like a gift to myself if healthy and great wholesome food!

The quality is gorgeous and the taste is like it came from my own backyard .

Every item in the box was so fresh and tasted like the veggies and fruits that I grew up with.

Tomatoes so sweet you can eat them like candy.
