Like most beautiful things, our Candles last longer when treated with care. This Candle care guide will help you channel hours of aromatic, transportive burn time, without tunneling, smoke, or wasted wax. These soy Candle care instructions will also ensure you protect the vessel long after the wax melts away.
If you’re wondering how to care for your Candle, remember that the first burn is the most important one.
When burning your scented Candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2 to 3 hours, until the top layer of the Candle wax melts completely into liquid wax. This is important, as it will prevent the Candle wax from tunneling around the Candle wick, so you’ll get an even burn (and make the most out of your Candle). We recommend using a Candle snuffer or dipper when putting out your Candle to ensure ash or smoke does not contaminate your Candle’s melted or unmelted wax. When burning the Candle after the first burn, do not let it burn for over 3 hours at a time.

Ideally, we recommend using a wick trimmer to keep the Candle wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times to prevent the scented Candle from emitting smoke or the wick falling into the melted wax. This will stop the wax and fragrance from getting ruined. Also, a trimmed wick burns slower and cleaner, meaning less soot and no little mushroom-shaped ash cap. After each burn, make sure the Candle wick is centered in the wax. This will ensure that the Candle glass does not overheat, as the wick and flame should never touch the Candle glass. Only trim the wick once the Candle has completely cooled down and the wax has fully hardened.
A Candle is beautiful, but it’s still fire. So make sure to care for it with attention. Here are some Candle care tips:
Never leave a lit Candle unattended
Let the Candle burn for more than 3 hours at a time.
A lit should also only be placed on a flat, heat-resistant surface.
Keep the Candle out of reach of children and pets.
When approaching the end of the Candle, leave ¼ inch of wax unburned
Ensure you are not burning the Candle for more than 3 hours. The glass can get overheated without the presence of wax and break.
With these Candle burning tips, you can ensure you make the most of your Candles.
With the right care, your Candle will burn longer and more evenly, and its perfume will unfurl the way it was intended. A little bit of extra care prevents tunneling, keeps soot at bay, and protects the glass vessel (which you may wish to keep and reuse later…).
To help your Candle burn in a perfect smooth pool, give it a calm environment. Place it somewhere still, away from open windows or vents that might coax the flame to dance too wildly. Before lighting, make sure the wick stands centered, too, and let the Candle burn long enough for the wax to melt from edge to edge. That “first full melt” teaches the Candle how to behave, and it will remember.
Every Candle has its own rhythm and recommended burn window, guided by the vessel, the wax, and the botanical oils inside. The most accurate timing lives on each product’s label, as well as on our product pages online. Follow that advice gently, as an invitation to let the Candle burn at a kind, steady pace.

Trim the wick, protect it from drafts, and give it a long enough first burn the first time to avoid tunneling (2 to 3 hours). Also make sure not to keep it lit for more than 3 hours.
It wasn’t burned long enough in the beginning, so the wax set a narrow memory.
Melt the wax around the wick, and gently scoop a little away so the wick can breathe again.
Yes. Soy burns slower and cleaner, which is lovely, but it requires patience on that first burn.
