Our Terrazzo Soaps are a gift to all our Flamingo Members this Fall.

They began with a VERY happy accident. Because we make and cut all our Soaps by hand, we get lots of little pieces leftover. Initially this would frustrate me, all the little crumbs of soap lying in the workroom tables. Often I would walk into the workshop and get knocked over by the scent from all these pieces.

So one day I asked Blanca Carreno (who runs the Soap Workshop) to combine all the leftover pieces into soap bars. I thought they would resemble the Terrazzo floors at the Estate. The first version of these were made as a gift for myself and the team. And the smell was so outrageous, we had to make more.

So we’ve been saving up all the little off-cuts. Day by day we saved a few more little pieces. Our Soap Bricks each contain multiple Essential Oils, so when we combine pieces of them together you get a medley of dozens of fragrances like Rose Geranium, Neroli, Orange Blossom, Narcissus, Lavender, Blue Yarrow, Chamomile, Jasmine, and Pink Fruit.

These Soaps are very special jewels from Blanca and her team. And I am so happy to share them with you.

Great soap

I love that this is a product created with essentially drop scraps from other bars. I always appreciate the thoughtful intentions that Flamingo Estate brings in their products, and this is yet another great example of their approach in action.
