A richly ornamented teapot from the Himalayan turquoiseware tradition, associated particularly with Ladakh and Kashmir. The gilded metal body is covered in a dense mosaic of turquoise-colored stone and coral-toned inlay, creating a jewel-like surface of floral and geometric pattern.
Traditionally made using small pieces of stone set by hand into a resinous ground over metalwork, these vessels are prized for their intricate craftsmanship and sculptural presence. This piece was selected for its rarity and beauty and was used in shoots for our Bhutan Subscription Box.
With its rounded body, pedestal foot, and domed lid, it is as compelling as an object as it is a vessel — beautiful displayed on a console, shelf, or tabletop.
