Designed in 1969, the UP7 — nicknamed Il Piede, or “The Foot” — was the final piece in Gaetano Pesce’s celebrated Up Series, a collection of seven sculptural seating designs that became icons of postwar Italian design. For UP7, Pesce reduced the body to a single unmistakable form: the human foot, enlarged to furniture scale and rendered in dense molded foam.
Part sculpture, part lounge chair, the piece is deliberately surreal — monumental, playful, and instantly recognizable. Produced under license by B&B Italia, it preserves the radical spirit of Pesce’s original design while remaining a functional piece of furniture.
Equally compelling as a statement seat or as a standalone sculptural object, UP7 brings an unmistakable presence to an interior.
