Our first Candles were earthy and herbaceous, most of them inspired by one ingredient or fragrance. But the Estate is filled with a sea of flowers, grasses, and trees — like intoxicating Night Blooming Jasmine, Damask Roses, Olive Trees, and Vetiver. If you walk around the garden, it’s this combination of aromas that make it so magical. So this set represents the second generation of our Candles. Each one is complex and layered with the sensual fragrances from the property. They are our most unique, and now the most requested.

This one is particularly close to my heart, because I have Jasmine growing outside my window, and its scent fills every corner of the room when I sleep. Made with Jasmine, Ionian Bergamot, Pink Peppercorn, and White Sandalwood.

Ancient Agrigento Olive Tree Candle
Herbal and bright, with a gentle bite of pepper and a hint of ripe fruit. Conjuring the feeling of cool marble on hot days with Galbanum and Violet Leaf.

Douglas Fir & Ancient Vetiver Candle
Light up forest bathing. This Candle is teeming with the scents of dancing Grass, smoky Vetiver, fresh Basil, sweet Angelica Root, and woody Douglas Fir for a clean and crisp aroma that calms deeply.

From the unboxing of the set to the unboxing of the candle to the enjoyment of the actual scent that hits you when you open the candle, all of it is beautiful and pleasing to the senses. The scents chosen for the candles are well balanced. They are noticeable when burnt, but not cloying or overpowering - also not commercially recognizable. There is some olfactory interest offered in each of the aromas.

Best candles for those who don’t want sweet smells

So glad to find these candles that are earthy, herbal, woody, and without the typical sweet notes. Even the most herbaceous or woody candles from Diptyque or Boy Smells have a sweet note. These are like getting a blend of pure scents from burning incense without the smokiness. The olive tree one is intoxicating and the jasmine one is quite fragrant, like a fresh batch of tea. Oh, and they almost always burn evenly unlike other candle brands.
