The Guide to Becoming Alive

Last August I sat in the goat shed and started writing a book. 

It was the kind of book I NEEDED to read. I was hungry to learn about how to live a GREAT life — not just a good one. I wanted to hear directly from my heroes about how they found their way to happiness, greatness and joy. And how they found their way out of mediocrity and darkness.

600 pages later, I have never been more proud of anything I have ever done. Ever.

The Guide to Becoming Alive is part manifesto, part memoir. It includes lessons from the garden, and candid conversations with my heroes and friends including: Jane Goodall, Alice Waters, Jo Horgan, Martha Stewart, Jane Fonda, Terry Tempest Williams, Kelly Wearstler, David Leon, Jobi Manson, Gonzalo Samaranch Granados, Elise Loehnen, Erica Chidi, Ellen DeGeneres, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, David de Rothschild, Dr. Kerry Howells

Together we talk about work ethic, sex, love, purpose, food, exercise, technology, politics, design, plants, and dogs. There’s plenty of great images and lots of words to live by. In a world that feels chaotic, this is a roadmap.
