The most delicious candle we’ve ever made.

Harvey loves taking his mother to Sant Ambroeus in New York to enjoy the famous Principessa cake. Legend has it, The cake was named "Princess Cake" because Swedish princesses were particularly fond of it. We’re particularly fond of it too — not just the taste, but the scent! Its layers of Lemon Sponge Cake, Vanilla Pastry Cream, and Almond Marzipan make us all so happy.

This past Holiday season, we all went to New York together. We stayed at our favorite hotel (The Carlyle) and walked across the road for Sant Ambroeus’ Principessa Cake every day. Sitting with Harvey’s mom, we decided to make a Principessa Candle.

Prinsesstårta is a complex Candle. It has sweet, powdery Almond and sultry spices. As it burns, it releases a creamy whiff of Heliotrope Flowers — reminiscent of Marzipan. Earthy Oakmoss at the heart. And musky Amber at the base. Together, this limited-edition Prinsesstårta Candle is a tribute to the mothers in our family: complex, strong, comforting, and sweet. And you can have as much as you want and you’ll never get fat.

We were inspired by Sant Ambroeus’ famous Principessa cake: a refined version of the traditional Swedish Prinsesstårta, which originated in the 1920s.

The original was created by Jenny Åkerström, a Swedish home economics instructor who taught the daughters of Prince Carl, Duke of Västergötland.

The cake was named "Princess Cake" because the princesses were particularly fond of it. Now — the world is fond of it, too.

Recognized by Eater as one of Sweden’s most beloved pastries, and our take on the candle: “the best gift of a favorite food memory.”

Utter perfection
Buying a candle online is dicey, and I do okay about 50% of the time, even when looking for fragrance notes that match up with candles I know I like. I have been enjoying Flamingo Estate products for a bit now and decided to check this one out. WOW, just wow. It is hard to describe, but it is wonderful, unique, and incredible. I resolved to try any candle Flamigo Estate makes after this experience. I bought Green Goddess at the same time, and it's also unique and amazing, completely different but worth it as well. Give this one a go. I can't imagine how it would ever disappoint.

So sweet and unique
I can guarantee you’ve never smelled a candle this unique and delicious. It’s hard to explain the deep, sweet, almondy (not a word), rich aroma. That’s it! It smells rich! Like, wealthy! Haha! No joke, just buy this candle.

New favorite candle
Right out of the box, I knew I'd be in love. It's smoky and sweet, and the throw is intense in my apartment. I can light it in the living room and smell it in my bedroom and the bathroom! Even unlit, the scent fills the space, and I get a whiff of Prinsesstarta every time I come home. Will definitely repurchase in the future.
