We first met the inimitable Duncan Campbell when his partner Luke Edward Hall painted a mural in our laundry room. We have similar creative heroes — the surrealists, the naturalists, the artists, the mythmakers — the visionaries who believed in infusing theater into everyday objects.
We share a fascination for the surreal botanical universe of François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne. We are in awe of the dreamlike couture of Elsa Schiaparelli, and Daniel Roseberry’s interpretation of her world. Peggy Guggenheim and Salvador Dalí are magic-makers. And then there’s our shared love of the garden — from yellow Brugmansia Lilies on our terrace to the English Roses that grow in the Cotswolds. I’m intrigued by the arrow-shaped leaves of our ‘Calidora’ elephant’s ears. And the twisting trunks of blooming Wisteria.
This Holiday Season, Duncan and his creative partner Charlotte Rey have put our imaginations into practice, with a limited-edition set of hand-forged garden tools, cast in bronze. Each pair have been fabricated exclusively for us by the third-generation foundry Collier Webb, located on the South Coast of England. These tools are hand-made using traditional techniques of lost wax and sand casting. They pay homage to Mother Nature and all the magical things we cherish.
Each set of tools comes individually numbered, in a custom wooden box.

Works of Art!
These don’t have to be used in the garden…they could be salad tongs…for now, they are displayed as the works of art that they are. On my kitchen table!
