This is a box of everyday alchemy.
Ten objects. Ten rituals. Ten invitations to cross a threshold. Each was conceived and made with people whose work we have admired for years: Carla Schwiderski, Annee de Mamiel, Donna Bayliss, Goth Shakira, Spellbound Sky, and Blanca Carreño.
Once upon a time, they would’ve been called witches. Today, we call them healers, herbalists, perfumers, farmers, artists, astrologers, cooks, and makers. The name has changed, but the work has not: they have each devoted themselves to understanding plants, materials, energy, and the invisible ways we move through the world.
The collection was created as a tribute to Practical Magic 2, produced by my great friend Denise Di Novi. But it was never intended to be a box of movie souvenirs. We wanted to take the subject seriously: to return to the magic of the Earth, to the apothecary, and to the hands of people who know how to coax the power of roots, flowers, smoke, metal, scent, and flame.
We call it Impractical Magic because none of it was convenient to make. The ingredients were carefully grown, harvested, distilled, and infused with almost unreasonable care. Inside are Mugwort, Fennel, Liquorice, Shiso, Vanilla, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Rosewood, Jasmine, Neroli, Mandarin, Grapefruit, Pink Pepper, Cacao, Star Anise, Guajillo Chile, Clove, and a solarized blend of ten Brazilian flower essences.
Ancient ingredients of plant magic, remade as tools for everyday transformation. Summoning protection, rest, desire, intuition, courage, clearing, and change. The kind of impractical, improbable, inconvenient magic that tends to arrive when something must change, and asks you to believe in something you cannot prove yet.
