We started making seasonal boxes as a way to send new things to my mother and my friends. It was a place for us to play, and have some fun, and try new ideas. We began selling them a couple of years ago because so many people had asked for them. Today, our Seasonal Subscription Box is our most requested product.

They remain a joy for us to make each season, and we really do get to play and experiment. This season I was curious about CALM, and how to find it in difficult times. We had just endured the fires in Los Angeles, and I needed to turn my racing mind off.

Here are the tools I made for calm: In it, you’ll find a Candle and Soap inspired by the scent of our bee smoker, which we fill with Lavender. A Honey made from the nectar of Avocado Flowers, and a Smoked Seasoning Salt from Big Sur Salts. You will also find a Body Wash and Lotion made from Lavender, Rosemary, and Sage. And finally, a Lavender Dream Spray, for when you need to go to sleep and dream of magical things.

A Hug From Mother Nature

These past months have been stressful for all of us. It got me thinking about how to calm my racing mind, relax my anxiety, sleep deeper, and dream bigger.

The orchard gave me some clues. When we open the Beehives to harvest Honey, the Bees get tremendously anxious. Every Beekeeper has a smoker — used to relax the Bees. We add Lavender to ours, which is the secret ingredient. Rich in Linalool, it has a mild sedative effect, soothing the Bees and keeping the calm.

This was the inspiration for our Seasonal Subscription Box. It’s a collection of tools from the garden to calm our anxious minds, keep ourselves moving, and nourish our sense of calm. We need that feeling more than ever.

High quality, deluxe, delightful

This is my first seasonal box and it did not disappoint. The lavender bee smoke candle is easily one of my all-time favorite candles (and that says a LOT, as I have bought many a candle at all kinds of price points). The smokiness from cedar wood blended with the lovely lavender is just divine for me. I’ll be so sad when it burns through, as it sounds like it’s a limited batch that isn’t planned to ever sell separately. The black salt pantry item has been fabulous on avocado toast. I like the clary sage lotion, as it’s not overpowering. You can truly feel the high quality of the ingredients used in these products. I love that Flamingo Estate embodies a vibe, a lifestyle and an ethos all while delivering products that truly add to a lovely home. I’ve since joined as a member and made a separate purchase for the heritage olive oil too. Consider me IN on the Flamingo Estate dream!

How does one leave a review of something when one is left not only breathless but wordless at the beauty, complexity, simplicity and magic of the thing??

The packaging is simple and elegant, and oh Baby, what's inside is gorgeous. Scents that are true to the descriptions, textures that feel amazing on your skin. I literally wept when I smelled the evocative scent of the Bee Smoke Lavender soap. I pictured the bees being lulled into a gentle dreaminess by the smoke, felt the warmth of the Californina sun on my back. The Clary Sage bath gel and body lotion are sublime. Ugh....it's all so gorgeous.

Thank you for being so creative and sharing your beauty with us. I'm so looking forward to every season of boxes!
