Memphis: LA Collection

During the SS 1983 haute couture season, Karl Lagerfeld debuted his first collection for @chanelofficial with crisp cotton shirts, lengthy black tweed sailor pants and matching, shrunken hats. But his home was the opposite: wild colors, conflicting shapes, synthetic materials and graphic, 80s-era patterns. Karl’s entire Monaco apartment was stocked with slanted bookshelves and lamps by Memphis founder Ettore Sottsass, a bright, light-up dressing table by Michael Graves, atypical furniture by Peter Shire, colorful sofas by Marco Zanini, countless inventive wardrobes and cabinets by Michele De Lucch, and even a Memphis Studio-designed television. @sothebys produced their catalog of the colorful collection in preparation for the sale on October 13, 1991. I love all of it.  x Richard

Our Beliefs

At the Flamingo Estate, we believe that pleasure is a human right.

Mother Nature is our doctor,
therapist and loyal friend. We use the highest quality ingredients possible and plant one tree for every product sold.

Flamingo Estate was founded on the idea that to stand on the Earth and sing her praises is one of the most joyful and necessary privileges of being alive.

In a world that profits off our numbness, it is a radical act to wake up one's senses. Champion the slow dive, the deep breath, the bee asleep in the mallow, the drizzle of olive oil on a soft boiled egg. These are the moments that welcome joy.
