Across all four sides, a flowering prunus branch is painted by hand, each blossom outlined in raised gilt with tiny gilt-dot stamens. The decoration reflects the Japonisme that swept through European design after the great Paris exhibitions of the period.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe inkwell retains its gilt-brass hinged collar, original clear glass liner, and matching swirl-molded ball lid.
